Da ist also das neueste Produkt der Choir Boys. Die dritte Veröffentlichung der sympathischen Band nennt sich "III". Logischerweise ist "III" nach dem Erstlingswerk "V" und der darauffolgenden Veröffentlichung "IV: Vitamins by Choir Boys" erschienen. Selbsterklärend; da muss nicht weiter ins Detail gegangen werden. Die sechs Tracks auf "III" sind in etwas weniger als einer Viertelstunde schon wieder vorbei, lassen sich aber problemlos in Dauerschleife durchhören. Anhören kann man das Ganze auf Bandcamp oder auf Tape. Das Revival von Musikkassetten ist auch an mir nicht vorbeigegangen, aber ich muss zugeben, dass ich mich etwas ziere, auf diesen Zug aufzuspringen. Die vier Astronauten aus Lausanne sind mit ihrer neuesten LP "sphere" zurück und ich sage schon mal so viel: die Band hat mal wieder ein Meisterwerk erzeugt. Die Band spielt rauen, melodischen, schnellen und gefühlvollen Grunge Punk. Hier und da spürt man etwas New Wave oder Crossover und generell steckt unheimlich viel Power in der Musik. Das Trio aus Southern Yorkshire wurde vor vier Jahren gegründet und besteht aus Sam, Seán und Mastermind Lauren. Hands off Gretel play rough, melodic, fast, and emotional Grunge Punk with some New Wave, Cross-Over here and there, and a lot of power. Es ist Zeit für eine gehörige Ladung Arschtritte, denn Death by Horse aus dem Süden Schwedens haben ihre zweite Langspielplatte "Reality hits hard" auf dem großartigen Label Twisted Chords veröffentlicht. Nachdem die Band 2017 als beste Newcomer Schwedens nominiert wurden, haben sie sich erneut dem Songwriting gewidmet, um jetzt zwölf brandneue Tracks zu präsentieren. Die Message hier ist zweierlei und eindeutig: Punk Rock ist verdammt mal noch nicht tot, und eben "Reality hits hard". Death by Horse spielen schnellen, melodischen, treibenden Punk Rock, der hier und da ein bisschen Hardcore-Einfluss zeigt, stets einen Fuß auf dem Gaspedal hat, während das andere Bein zum Arschtreten bereit ist. Time to kick some ass! Death by Horse from Southern Sweden have released their second longplayer via the great label Twisted Chords. After being nominated for Sweden's best newcomer act two years ago the band went into songwriting again, and is now presenting twelve brand new songs that basically two messages: Punk Rock is fucking alive, and reality hits hard. Death by Horse play fast, driving, and melodic Punk Rock with some Hardcore influence here and there, one foot on the throttle, and the other one ready to kick ass. The fast beats infectious and easily galopp over the record. Guitars and bass are creating a melodic multi-layer scape of distortion and crunch with some clean parts from while to while which allow the listener to take a litte breath before the next storm. The singer's voice adds up perfectly to the sound. She mostly sings in a strong but harmonic manner. I'd locate the voice somewhere between Brody Dalle and Cecilia Boström. Berlin nach der Wende. Die Stadt ist immer noch grau; auch wenn man das hinter den bunten Fassaden und Graffiti nicht immer auf den ersten Blick sieht. Irgendwo zwischen Henry Fonda, Neurotic Arseholes, Days in Grief und Slime gründen die vier Musiker Simon, Matti, Max und Paul ein kleines Projekt und nennen es Fabrik Fabrik. Es folgen einige Konzerte, es gibt etwas Merch und mit Unterstützung von Phantom Records erscheint im Jahr 2016 die einzige Platte des Quartetts. Leider wurde dann zwei Jahre später auch schon das Ende des Projekts angekündigt. Gerne hätte ich Fabrik Fabrik während ihrer aktiven Schaffensphase kennengelernt. Auch das hat nicht funktioniert; deshalb gibt es zumindest einen kleinen Nachruf. Die einzige Veröffentlichung von Fabrik Fabrik ist eine selbstbetitelte LP mit neun vor Kraft und Emotion strotzenden Tracks. Es ist inzwischen drei Jahre her, dass mir die Band Giuda zum ersten Mal aufgefallen ist. Damals habe ich eine kleine Review zum 2016er Album "Speaks Evil" verfasst. Heute halte ich fröhlich das neueste Album "E.V.A." in der Hand. Für diejenigen, denen Giuda noch kein Begriff ist: es handelt sich um eine Rock'n'Roll Band aus Rom, die sich mit Einflüssen aus Glam Rock und frühem Punk Rock präsentiert. Die Band hat sich nach Judas aus dem Neuen Testament benannt und ist seit ihrem letzten Album vom Quintett zum Quartett geschrumpft. Während die letzte Platte "Speaks Evil" noch deutlich mehr Cock-Rock und Ideen von AC/DC aufzeigte, spürt man von diesen Einflüssen auf "E.V.A." nichts mehr. Letzteres gefällt mir sehr gut. It has been three years since I heard of the band Giuda for the first time. In 2016 I wrote a short review on their last LP "Speaks Evil". Today I'm very happy that the shipment of their newest work "E.V.A." arrived at my flat. For those who have never heard of Giuda, we're talking about a Rock'n'Roll band from Rome with influences from Glam Rock and early Punk Rock. Giuda who named themselves after Judas from the Bible have shrunk from a quintet to a quartet since their last release. The 2016 LP still featured some Cock-Rock, AC/DC-like sounds which are not present on the contemporary LP. I am very glad of the latter. The new LP is defintely dedicated to space.
