Earlier this year, I reviewed the sophomore longplayer by Stockholm's finest quartet Automatism "Into the Sea". Now Automatism have already released their third album "Immersion" and it seems like they are really happy releasing their music via the amazing Krefeld-based label Tonzonen Records.
"Immersion" features six new tracks on which the band proves that are not tired a bit. Instead, they constantly develop their unique style and have thus created an impressive work of progressive music.

The sharp-dressed trio from the North are Jonas Yrlid (drums), Mikael Tuominen (bass), Gustav Nygren (guitar) and Hans Hjelm (guitar). On "Immersion" they receive additive support by Jakob Sjöholm who plays a scratchy guitar on the final track 'First Train'. Also, Per Wiberg adds to the atmosphere of all songs with his keayboards and Jesper Skarin brings in further dynamics with his percussions.

Once again, Automatism really live up tot their name. Jazzy Krautrock motifs loop around itself until they hive themselves off into beautiful madness. While the recent album "Into the Sea" showed a bit more influence from Blues, this one is a lot calmer. Nevertheless, that does not mean it is less eclectic. Automatism's Psychedelic Krautjazz whirls up like a huge water spout and adapts an icy Post Rock atmosphere.

No doubt, this is he greatest work, Automatism have created so far. Meditative and relaxing on the one hand, versatile and sophisticated on the other. Let there be Kraut, let there be Psychedelia, let there be Jazz and let there be Post Rock. In one phrase: let there be Autmatism!
