Goldray's first appearance on MangoWave is not too long ago. Their single "How do you kow / Oz" was recently featured in the section "Discoveries of the Week". Today we're listening to the album those two songs are featured on: "Feel the Change". It is the London Psych Prog duo's sophomore full-length release after their 2017 debut "Rising".

On eight tracks Kenwyn House and Leah Rasmussen present powerful, psychedelic, progressive, and occvlt Rock music. One might be reminded of Psych Prog of the late 1960s and early 1970s. And I would say that this is mostly credit to Rasmussen's stunning vocals. The vocalist does not have to hide her talent amongst big players like Signe Toly Anderson, Elin Larsson or Farida Lemouchi.

Goldray bring back the gloomy and occvlt music of the Summer of Love. The soundscapes invite the audience to a hypnotized but sporty dance while the mind is restlessly exploring the depths of its inner self or unknown spheres of the galaxy. Progressive Rock as dark and psychedelic, Roky Erickson would exhume himself to join the dance.

Goldray are one of the very few bands that manage to play this kind of 60s/70s Psych Prog without sounding outdated or like a half-baked Jefferson tribute band. Instead they are to be named amongst great names such as Ayahuasca (the Italian ones), Blues Pills, Golden Animals, or The Devil's Blood. "Feel the Change" is an album full of beautiful songs for the apocalypse, for psychedelic sessions, or for a glass of red wine in a starry night.
