Surgent - Beast of Prey

Genre: Technical Death Metal
Origin: Tallinn, Estonia

Some of you might remember, not too long ago, I was very happy to add the Baltic Country of Estonia to my musical atlas, when I reviewed Old School Death Metal band Koffin. Well, today we're listening to more Death Metal from the North East European country. "Beast of Prey" is the second single release by Tallinn-based quartet Surgent. And if the name leads you to the assumption the band might play gory Grindcore, you are mistaking. This is some heavily blasting Technical Death Metal. Listen for yourselves:

What a powerload! Intelligent breaks and versatile riffing makes this full-throttle Death Metal track so various and catchy at the same time. My favourite part is when the rolling bass line re-scaffolds the track and leads into a leathal mortal blow.
The high shouts which variantly appear to the deep growls add to the dynamics, too. And after all, the production of this chequered musical assault is just awesome.

Surgent's new single is basically blowing me away. Play this song on some loud ass speakers and you won't need a hair dryer. Butt-kicking Tec Death for the win!
