Spinball - Glow (MR)
(44:19, Album, Digital, B-Otherside Records, 10/01/2022)
In the fifteenth year of their existence as a band, quartet Spinball from Greek capital Athens has released their third long-player "Glow". Together with their guest musicians Stelios Provis, George Filikozisi and Jim Tsarnos, Spinball hereby present a colourful bouquet of agile and moving Indie and Alternative Rock. The intro of the first song 'In the Stack' spreads some interesting Darkthrone vibes before the music rapidly leaves the paths of Black and Punk Metal, and instead Spinball present 44 minutes of spry music that turns every place into a dancefloor.
Spinball know how to catch and thrill their audience. With fuzzy riffs, exciting song structures and an anthemic atmosphere, the quartet from Athens takes the listeners by their hand and leads them directly towards fun and joy. Dynamic and boppy, but also melancholic and psychedelic sounds enchant the listeners senses. The album's fourth track '32' is an amazing example of how Spinball combine atmosphere and movement and a powerful arc of suspense. If you love your Alternative Rock gloomy and melancholic, 'Betty K.' will make you very happy.

Comprador - Don't worry about it (MR)
(44:54, Album, Digital, Stain Magick Records, 11/06/2022)
On their solo debut, Charlie D'Ardenne presents ten tracks which deal with one of the most impressive tales from Ancient Greek Mythology. The concept album "Don't worry about it" is a contemporary take on the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus who imitated birds' wings to escape from being imprisoned on the island of Crete. Comprador draw a comparing line between the situation father and son find themselves in that tale, and the global situation that affected us in the yeas 2020 and 2021.
But "Don't worry about it" goes far beyond showing parallels between Icarus' ascend towards the sun and the life between lockdowns. The album takes on social interaction, solitude, affection, needs, and more. The similitude is drawn by heavy and emotional rock music. Comprador and their guests let massive Alternative or Grunge as in 'Inquisitors' clash with soulful Indie Pop like in the ballad 'Love Eternal' or intelligent Prog just like in 'Inventions' or 'Death of an only Child'. It is a powerful and versatile album that conveys melancholy, phlegm, but also hope.

DCxPC Live Vol. 6 Presents Grave Return & The Hamiltons Live at the Danger Room (MR)
(12:11, EP, Vinyl/Digital, DCxPC, 20/05/2022)
The name DCxPC Live has a proved recipe for awesome live shows and amazing releases that follow these gigs. The sixth part of the DCxPC Live Presents series has been released in May 2022 and it features Hardcore and Skate Punk band Grave Return and Punk'n'Rollers The Hamiltons. On the A-Side, Grave Return present a solid and confident show at The Danger Room in their hometown. The two bangers 'Rocket Summer' and 'TV Prophets' make you taste the joy, sweat, and beer that was spread during the recorded concert. After this massive moshpit The Hamiltons come in with a monster of Punk'n'Roll called 'Pierced'. After they have plowed everything to pieces with this two-minute wrecking ball, the final track 'Comin' Up' is a heavily stomping dance on the rubble and debris.
Once more, DCxPC have provided a beautiful Punk Rock party for your living rooms, your car stereos, and every other place that has loud speakers.

NAIVS - Demo
(13:35, Demo EP, Digital, selfrelease, 14/06/2022)
And last but not least, I am happy to introduce a new band from my home town Würzburg. The quintet NAIVS consists of musicians that have played in bands such as Dearest, VEL, Harke, Zerre, and others. Thus, an interesting combination of styles and genres defines the sound the five-track demo. The atmospheric and hazy vastness of Post Punk and Shoegaze intefere with sharp and edgy Post Hardcore structures while a 1980s Depropunk attitude grinds glitchy synths.
NAIVS and their first release are a great example of the Cold War Music-Revival that we are experiencing in genres such as Post Punk, Punk Rock, or Alterative Rock. The spirits of EA80, Abwärts, Neurotic Arseholes, or Joy Division are back with great power. And NAIVS show us that we can be very happy about this return. Later this year, the Demo EP will also be released physically and for stream on Spotify.
