Album Review: Demonhead - Black Devil Lies (2019)

Four years have passed since Demonhead released their debut album "Bring on the Doom". Four years that were not only defined by joy and happiness. But as Demonhead re-formed in 2017 the decision to channel all negativity into the production of new music was made easily. The outcome is the Melbourne-based band's second full-length album "Black Devil Lies", recorded at Monolith Studios by Chris Themelco.
On a ten new songs and two bonus tracks Demonhead play heavy and raw Thrash Metal that includes influences from Stoner Rock or Doom Metal as well as some Punk Rock. Brachial beats constantly push forward while intense riffing thrashes through every level of pereception. This massive instance is decorated by great variety in tempo, plenty of stops and fills, and lightning-fast Heavy Metal soli. What I like especially are the powerfully shouted backing vocals.
For almost fifty minutes Demonhead mill down everything and everyone standing in their way with this amazing combination of Heavy Metal harmony, Thrash Metal speed, and (Hardcore) Punk Rock attitude. This album is a massive display of confidence and presence. Without any exceptions "Black Devil Lies" implies self-aware and self-conscious strength.
My favourite tracks on Demonhead's "Black Devil Lies" are 'Eyes of the Insane' featuring its clean harmonic, 'Double Cross the Dead' with its powerful and triumphant chorus, and 'Children of the Night' which contains a whole load of positivity. "Black Devil Lies" is a strong and heavy Thrash Metal album by which Demonhead make it obvious that they are back to stay.
