This June, the album "Holy Water" by British Sabbath-worshipping Stoner Doom band Sleeping Village was reviewed here. In this post I recommended you to have a look at Sleeping Village Reviews, too. I hope you did, because they're awesome! But Sleeping Village Reviews do not only talk about music. They take action, too. And thus, here is the first two-track Split released by Sleeping Village Records.
The new series begins with two bands from New Hampshire, Dust Prophet and Conduit.

A warm bass, some flanger and psychedelic sounds introduce the A-Side. And only some seconds later Dust Prophet change the tempo and the intensity of their song. 'Down Below' is a beautiful interaction of hovering beats spiraling into ast-forward mosh parts. The song is defined by a gorgeous harmony that grinds below the surface of the heavy riffs.
What makes this track so special is its atypical structure. In general, more or less everything Dust Prophet present here, sounds rather uncommon. And yet, most people will easily agree that this is a psychedelic form of Stoner Rock and Stoner Metal.

As Conduit begin to play, the Stoner theme is present on the B-Side as well. But when the vocals commence, you should focus at least one ear on the instruments and enjoy how smooth guitar, bass and drums shift their rhythms. And within seconds the complex soundscape reminds of Tool's 'Right in Two'. Still, Conduit manage to keep the Stoner theme present and merge it with the dark atmosphere of late-90s Alternative Metal.
Although, the band cannot help receiving comparisons to Tool, they have createda very special sound with 'Conduit'. The ten-minute song is defined by an exciting structure and a versatile interaction of darkness, dizziness, and soulful atmosphere.
