Bottlekopf are a trio from Silesian city Katowice (or Katowicy if you prefer the Silesian name). Twelve years ago, the band was founded and has since then released two full-length albums of which the second is the album on hand, "The Jokes are Over". The sophomore longplayer is the result of a long process in which Bottlekopf have found themselves as a band and as musicians. Several line-up changes and finally the pandemic have had its impact on this procedure. And now the second album is here, and it has turned out to be a massive powerload of rolling and stomping Death Metal.
On eleven tracks plus an intro and the fading-out final track 'Supplementary', Bottlekopf grab their listeners by their necks and animate them to bang their heads. The diversity on "The Jokes are Over" includes Northern and dark (almost Darkthrone-like) Blackened Death Metal as in 'My Breath', anthemic Death Metal hymns like 'Guest', or massive wrecking balls like 'Six Six'. And with the thrilling ballad 'Brainwash', Bottlekopf masterfully prove that they know how to build up tension and let it discharge in a raging avalaunche.
Fans of Unleashed, Morbid Angel, Totenmond, or Pungent Stench will find lots of joy with this thirteen-track release. Bottlekopf's "The Jokes are Over" is defined by massive grooves, bloodthirsty riffing, merciless rhythms, and growled vocals that splutter from infernal depths. And everyone who has not had enough fun with this, can move their hips and feet to the 'Dead Blues' at the end of this great album.
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
