Less than two years ago, Electric Mud from Hannover, the capital of German federal state Lower Saxony, released their monumental album "Quiet Days on Earth". Justifiably, the 70-minute release received tremendous echoes from the music press and from the Prog community. Driven by this success, the former duo consisting of Hagen and Nico has grown to become a sextet since then. The project has hence become band, or even an ensemble.
With reference to the word ensemble, an introduction to the recent development of Electric Mud can be given. As a sextet, the band from Hannover is now able to create a way broader sonic image. While the pieces on "Quiet Days on Earth" have already conveyed a meditative and soothing Neo-Classic and Ambient mood, these elements have largely been enhanced on "The Inner World Outside". But instead of going full classic, Electric Mud have mastered to merge this development with their Prog and Post Rock sounds. And thus, "The Inner World Outside" is predominantly defined by sweet and cinematic Canterbury sound.
Sweet chimes, passionate strings, a powerful organ, and the whole section of Prog Rock-related organic and electronic instruments creates magical soundscapes of film score character. Electric Mud made a huge step, and can now call themselves sonic storytellers, or creatoes or Cinematic Prog Art.
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
