Today is the day, we can finally all listen to the debut EP "Sunbound" by Dresden's Poliverso. The Saxon quartet was orignally formed in 2019 by Andrés Ramos  (guitar, vocals) who experimented with Caribbean folklore and Rock music. Together with Sören Müller  (bass, backing vocals) he wrote the first songs that have later become the tracks of "Sunbound". The band line-up was then completed as Eduardo Mota  (drums, percussions) and Scott McLean  (keys) joined. The quartet is about to release their first single "El Quinto Sol" on July 02, and their EP "Sunbound" will then be selfreleased on their Bandcamp page on September 17, 2021. As I got the chance for a pre-listening session, I can tell you what to expect from Poliverso: The band plays an eclectic mix of Prog, Post, Heavy, and Stoner Rock. The vocals are sung in Spanish and English, and together with the soundscapes they create a sonic journey that reminds me a little bit of Winterthur's The Dues . I am super excited for this EP to drop, and I recommend to all th fans of progressive, heavy, and yet sensual rock music to follow this new band. Orange Utan is not the German word for orang-utan, but the first lexem actually refers to either the fruit or the colour orange. The title of the album "katastrophil" is another play on words. It combines the German word "katastrophal" ("catastrophic") with the Greek suffix "-phil" ("loving"). Thus, "katastrophil" means having an affection towards catastrophies or catastrophic instances.
