Kurze Zeit nach der Jahrtausendwende erlebten wir in Westeuropa einen gewaltigen Hype des Emocore und Screamo . Der Einfluss war omnipräsent in Musik, Mode, Kleidung, Frisuren und auch die Musikmagazine waren voll damit. Ich selbst habe mich sehr schwer getan, dem Stil viel abzugewinnen. Doch dann entdeckte ich im Ox Fanzine die Band Days in Grief aus Köln. Das war genau die Mischung aus brachialem Hardcore, intelligenten Breaks und gefühlvollem Gesang, mit der ich etwas anfangen konnte. Days in Grief gibt es nun auch schon lange nicht mehr. Aber kürzlich stolperte ich über die schöne Erkenntnis, dass es eine Nachfolgeband gibt: Crispr Cas Method. Crispr Cas Method stellen sich zusammen aus Mitgliedern von Days in Grief und KMPFSPRT . Und es wird auch ab dem ersten Ton der selbstbetitelten EP klar, dass sich die Musiker grundsätzlich in ähnlichen Gefilden bewegen wie zuvor. Bei dem Namen Noorvik stelle ich mir zunächst unweigerlich eine skandinavische Black Metal Band vor, die sich mit Ziegenköpfen, Corpse Paint und einer wunderschönen Portion Blasphemie schmückt. Was sich stattdessen auf dem zweiten Werk der Kölner Band befindet, könnte kaum weiter von meinen Annahmen entfernt sein. Noorvik spielen auf ihrer LP "Omission" mitreißend-hypnotisierenden, instrumentellen Progressive Rock, der sich melodisch und mächtig an Post-Metal, Doom Metal und Post-Rock bedient. Etwa 35 Minuten lang decken die vier Kölner Musiker ein immenses Spektrum an verträumt-ruhigen über anspruchsvoll-vertrackten bis hin zu intensiv-brachialen Themen ab. Mal flirren die Leads der Gitarren wie Eiskristalle durch eine windige Nacht, dann sind avantgardistische Rhythmen in den Vordergrund gestellt, und andermal wird ein massives Metal-Brett aufgefahren.
