Karakorum heißt in den Turk-Sprachen "schwarzer Berg" oder auch "nördlich des Berges". Geschichtsbegeisterte Leser werden in dem Namen auch die erste Hauptstadt der Mongolei wiederentdecken. Unter dem Namen Karakorum ist aber auch ein oberbayerisches Quintett unterwegs, welches sich seit vier Jahren dem progressiven Krautjazz widmet. Ebendiese Kapelle aus Mühldorf am Inn hat via Tonzonen Records gerade ihre zweite Langspielplatte "Fables and Fairytales" herausgebracht. Der Name der neuen Scheibe von Karakorum hätte nicht besser gewählt werden können. In angenehm melodischer, jazziger und krautiger Manier erzählt die Band Geschichten, Fabeln und Märchen aus einer Welt, die zu schön und zu verrückt ist, um die unsere zu sein. Die Fabeln sind zunächst über 23 Minuten und zwei Tracks auf der A-Seite gebettet, wobei die zweite Geschichte "Smegmahood" aus fünf unterschiedlichen Teilen besteht. Wer Welcome Inside the Brain noch nicht kennt, sollte sich diesen Namen gut merken. Denn unter diesem Namen ist eine noch recht neue großartige Band aus dem sonnigen Leipzig unterwegs. Es handelt sich um ein Quintett, das seit etwa zwei Jahren orgelbetriebenen, herzerwärmenden Blues Rock mit einer netten Portion Jazz, ein paar Prisen Mothers of Invention und immer mal wieder einem Quäntchen Arthur Brown produziert. Zwei Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung ihrer letzten Scheibe "Celebrate the Depression" liegt nun das neueste Werk "Queen of the Day Flies" auf meinem Plattenteller. Und ich muss sagen, dass ich von dem Rundling, der beim Krefelder Label Tonzonen Records erschienen ist, in höchstem Maße entzückt bin.
