Lasst uns eine Zigarette rauchen und über das neue Album von Totally Unicorn mit dem Titel "Sorry" reden. Aber passt auf, denn das hier ist kein leichter Tabak. Auf etwa 35 Minuten hat das irre Viergespann intensive Attacken, abgehackte Beats, wilde Variationen in Rhythmus und Stimmung sowie einen tonnenschweren Sound aufgefahren. Genau so soll Heavy Math Rock oder Math Metalcore klingen. Die verbrannten Zigaretten auf dem Cover geben einen guten Eindruck von der Stimme des Sängers. Gepresstes Schreien und Shouten hüpfen in einer Leichtigkeit über die brachiale und aus purem Wahnsinn bestehende Soundlandschaft. In den Breaks wird die Stimme gelegentlich zu kräftig gesprochenen Ansagen und in Intros wie bei "A Song for the Dead Shits" verformt sie sich zu einer leicht jammernden und dennoch kraftvoll singenden und kratzenden, wunderschönen Figur. Let's have a smoke and talk about Totally Unicorn's new LP "Sorry". Be aware that this is no light tobacco. The quartet has created around 35 minutes of intense attacks, staccato beats, wild varieties in rhythm and tune, and a heavy ton of savage sound. This is what Heavy Math Rock or Math Metalcore should sound like. The burnt down cigarettes on the cover give you a nice impression of what the singer's voice sounds like. The strained screams and shouts easily jump across the heavy soundscape of pure and heavy madness. In several breaks the vocals turn into a strongly announcing or commenting manner, and when singing intros as in "A Song for the Dead Shits" there is this weeping but massive mixture of chanting and shouting which is just awesome. In general Drew's vocals are loud, intense, and thrilling. Music-wise Totally Unicorn on "Sorry" present themselves as professionals in heavy and intelligent music. Straight-up Hard Rock or Th...

Wer bei dem Namen PAULINCHEN BRENNT noch zuerst an den Struwwelpeter oder gar an ein Werbeplakat für Bewusstsein über brandgeschädigte Kinder denkt, sollte sich dringend mit diesem Trio bekannt machen. PAULINCHEN BRENNT aus Leipzig und Nürnberg melden sich zwei Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung "Viele werden satt" mit ihrer zwei Tracks umfassenden Single "wie Salz" zurück. Die Titel "Souzeraine" und "wie Salz" schlagen zu wie ein stachelbesetzter Hammer, der im Takt der abwechslungsreichen Hardcore Tracks auf einen Holztisch geprügelt wird. Wunderschön! Einfallsreicher, schneller und definitiv punkiger Hardcore mit kreischendem Gesang, schönen Gitarrenleads, warmen Bassspuren und dynamischem Tempowechsel. Der gesungene letzte Teil im Track "Souzeraine" hat mich erst etwas überrascht, passt aber perfekt als Einleitung für das Outro mit der nach Post-Hardcore anmutenden Leadstimme.
