Meine erste Begegnung mit der Band Kotzreiz war zu der Zeit, als man auf den Namen noch erwiderte: "Welche? Die aus Berlin oder die ohne Haare?". Ich lag auf der Rückbank des Würzburger Punk Mobils auf der Rückfahrt vom Frost Punx Picnic und wollte sehr gerne schlafen. Leider fand ich das Album "Du machst die Stadt kaputt" viel zu gut und viel zu lustig, weshalb ich wach geblieben. Seitdem lief die erste Scheibe von Kotzreiz auf Hot Rotation bei mir. Das zweite Album "Punk bleibt Punk" wiederum ist irgendwie fast komplett an mir vorbei gegangen. Ich werde das mal bei Gelegenheit nachholen. Wie dem auch sei. Es ist 2020. Und wer ist wieder da? Genau. Kotzreiz sind wieder da. Die superironische, minimalistische, immer durstige, feierwütige Hipster Punk Band aus der Hauptstadt des Bundeslandes Berlin. Castration Anxiety is the title of the first full-lenght album by the American duo HIDE. Chicago based Industrial band HIDE were founded in 2014 ,and consist of percussionist Seth Her and visual artist Heather Gabel. What the duo put on vinyl this year might be the darkest, gloomiest and most intense disc I ever had lying on my record player. Seth Her is creating controlled confusion in the greatest fashion of Industrial music with his modules which instantly invite the listener to getting lost in its sounds. The music of HIDE is defined by diversified drum patterns who activatingly move forward between deep, aggressive, swirling bass and sub bass on the one hand, and masterfully disharmonic melodies on the other hand. Furthermore, rhythm and melody install beautiful structures in every track which build up slowly towards activating beats and always end up in a slick climax. Castration Anxiety ist der Name der ersten Langspielplatte des amerikanischen Duos HIDE. Der Perkussionist Seth Her und die Künstlerin Heather Gabel sind seit der Gründung in Chicago 2014 als HIDE aktiv. Das was sie dieses Jahr auf Vinyl gepresst haben, ist mitunter eine der düstersten, dunkelsten und intensivsten Scheiben, die bisher auf meinem Plattenteller lag. Seth Her schafft es mit seinen Modulen, kontrollierte Verwirrungen in wunderschönster Industrial Manier zu erzeugen, in denen man sich beim Hören schnell verlieren kann. Der Sound baut auf abwechslungsreichen Drum Patterns auf, die zwischen waberndem und aggressiven Bass und Sub-Bass sowie gekonnt unharmonischen Melodien vorantreiben. Dabei erzeugen Rhythmus und Klänge in jedem Stück für sich sehr schöne Strukturen, die sich langsam aufbauen, zu vorantreibenden Beats werden und immer wieder in einer gekonnten Klimax enden.
