Straightforward Hard Rock goes along with rough Heavy Metal and creates an enormous atmosphere. Goosebumps are to be expected. The lead guitar adds to the air especially via playing epic licks that shoot for the sky. Those leads show some similarity to Baroque music. You may hear references to Vivaldi . Behold, for there is a new star rising on the sky of Progressive Metal ! Alex Gallieni  is a young musician from Mexico City . He studied at the Center for Artistic Education Luis Spota Saavadera and the Escuela des Bellas Artes de Tultepec . Bands Gallieni  has played with are (among others) Malayameng , Adimensional  and Traktor Mexico . His first single "Catharsis" was published via Killsound Productions : It begins with some heavy Prog Metal and Djent that spirals around itself and gets more intense as it approaches its first climax. Then, around the middle of the track, a massive Symphonic Metal motif kicks in. On multiple layers Gallieni  thrashes straight forward with versatile and intelligent shredding while "Catharsis" is moving towards the intense last part. Phoenix -based band Vera Revive recently released their first single "What it means to forgive". Tough Post Hardcore is mixed with Alternative Metal , melancholic harmonies and melodic leads. Inner conflicts about the act of forgiving and apologizing are wrapped up in a brachial soundscape between hoarse shouting and smooth vocals. The structure of the song reminds of a musicked inner monologue. Despite the content and the musical features Vera Revive's "What it means to forgive" does not sound like an Emocore revival. Readers of this blog might discover similarities to Australian band Without Belief . Hope to hear more from this great band soon. Some weeks ago I met Ten Ton Slug. The sympathetic quartet from Ireland gave me a flyer and informed that they are about to release a new single . So, here we go! "Hunting Ground" is a straight sledgehammer. If anyone asked me how to describe the Sludge genre, I'd play this song to them. Dragged highly distorted Hardcore and Metal riffing combined with a tank tread-like battery, and the omnipresent shouted, growled, and screamed lyrics. Recently I received a message from Enrique, drummer of Lima's Laura La Sangrienta, presenting me their newest Singles "El Andar del Ogro" and "Terror en la Quinta Milagros". Laura La Sangrienta means "Bloody Laura" or "Laura covered in Blood", and is the name of a Lima-based three-piece Instrumental Rock band. Wer bei dem Namen PAULINCHEN BRENNT noch zuerst an den Struwwelpeter oder gar an ein Werbeplakat für Bewusstsein über brandgeschädigte Kinder denkt, sollte sich dringend mit diesem Trio bekannt machen. PAULINCHEN BRENNT aus Leipzig und Nürnberg melden sich zwei Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung "Viele werden satt" mit ihrer zwei Tracks umfassenden Single "wie Salz" zurück. Die Titel "Souzeraine" und "wie Salz" schlagen zu wie ein stachelbesetzter Hammer, der im Takt der abwechslungsreichen Hardcore Tracks auf einen Holztisch geprügelt wird. Wunderschön!
