Story Release Date: June 25, 2021 Label: AWAL Format: Digital Length: 09:57 Genre: Revenge Pop Origin: Buffalo , New York , USA I don't often quote the press kit, but this time I think that I can't help. "When you're queer, everybody wants your sob story. With "S.O.B. Story", non-binary Alt-Pop and Hip-Hop artist Medusa asks: What if we're not sad?" "S.O.B. Story" is a three-track EP by Buffalo's artist Medusa (they/them), featuring guest appearances by way2wavybaby (she/her), and Overflow (they/them). Story" is a self-confident release conveying a message for cis- and straight allies: don't express pity, and show support instead. "S.O.B. Story" is a loud release. Medusa and their guests Overflow and way2wavybaby do use their inside voices when si...

Picture Credit: Anna Eisch   Anna Eisch - FMO Release Date: May 21, 2021 Length: 02:53 Genre: Dark Pop / Synthwave Origin: Nashville , Tennessee , USA "FMO" stands for "Fuck Me Over", and it is the name of the first single that Nashville's Anna Eisch  has released since her debut EP " I doubt he'll ever hear this ". In her new song, Anna Eisch  deals with the tough process of exiting a toxic relationship. Thus, "FMO" concerns the inner struggle between self-doubt and self-awareness, and the inner conflict between leaving for one's good and staying for the less toxic elements of the relationship. "FMO" is based on a dark and grinding set of synthesizer waves. Gloomy atmosphere comparable to late 90s Alternative Rock and Pop builds the foundation on which Anna Eisch  powerfully and sensually sings her narrative. The glitchy soundscape gets its dynamics via a trap beat which combines the pre-Millenium soundsphere with contempo...

The album "Brave" by M9 Awakening is yet another amazing example. M9 Awakening are MCs MOTH3R and 9TalesTheArtist from Brixton. On their self-released debut album they are supported by Jaqxx, Opulent Soul, and Miss Perspective on the microphones. They perform on trippy and trappy beats produced by Gomitre Gopal, and Jaqxx. Music, lyrics, and atmosphere display the vibrant and multicultural reality of South London. Asian and Arab tunes merge with trap beats and create stunningly pschedelic soundscapes. MOTH3R and 9TalesTheArtist skilfully perform on these beats in English and partially in Spanish. Their rap style reaches from powerfully compressed vocals to melodic chants. Thus, M9 Awakening musick a wide spectre of...
