With the EP " Escape Room " released in January, the follow-up work "By your own Hands" was out only three weeks later. This EP was inspired by the "Alien" franchise created by Ridley Scotts . And since I hardly know anything about this franchise, this review will solely focus on the music created by one-person-band Isphet. Bei dem Namen Noorvik stelle ich mir zunächst unweigerlich eine skandinavische Black Metal Band vor, die sich mit Ziegenköpfen, Corpse Paint und einer wunderschönen Portion Blasphemie schmückt. Was sich stattdessen auf dem zweiten Werk der Kölner Band befindet, könnte kaum weiter von meinen Annahmen entfernt sein. Noorvik spielen auf ihrer LP "Omission" mitreißend-hypnotisierenden, instrumentellen Progressive Rock, der sich melodisch und mächtig an Post-Metal, Doom Metal und Post-Rock bedient. Etwa 35 Minuten lang decken die vier Kölner Musiker ein immenses Spektrum an verträumt-ruhigen über anspruchsvoll-vertrackten bis hin zu intensiv-brachialen Themen ab. Mal flirren die Leads der Gitarren wie Eiskristalle durch eine windige Nacht, dann sind avantgardistische Rhythmen in den Vordergrund gestellt, und andermal wird ein massives Metal-Brett aufgefahren.
