Today we're taking a trip to La Rinconada, the highest situated town on our planet. The town in the Peruvian region of Puno is not too far away from the Bolivian border and got famous for its gold mine in the past. During the gold rush the population of La Rinconada rose up to 40.000. Many people hoped to become rich quickly and make a living in this town. But as things are in our free and capitalist work only few really could live up to their dreams. Instead, many people died in collapsed shafts and even more got ill from the lack of security against toxic substances such as quicksilver. Today, La Rinconada has less than 7.000 inhabitants and it has become a ghost town. The place is a symbol for a dream that has not been fulfilled. Poverty, disease and desparation are the images visible in La Rinconada which once should become a town of gold. "Nace un Ciclo" (Spanish for: "a cycle is born") is the fourth album by Limas Psychedelic , Experimental and Space Rock band Spatial Moods. The quartet from Peru presents a bit more than half an hour of mid-tempo music for space travellers and fans of psychedelic journeys. So far the album is only available via YouTube and Bandcamp (links below), but it appears to be most likely that it will be released as an LP via Nécio Records . The reason for my assumption is that Nécio boss Arturo Alonso Quispe Velarde  is playing the guitar for Spatial Moods. The other band membes are Jorge Apaza Frisancho  (guitar, vocals, keys), Manuel Villavicencio Sánchez  (bass) and Israel Tenor (drums). Together the quartet plays a stunning and very unorthodox form of Psychedelic and Space Rock. For one, the tempo of the five songs is much higher than in ordinary examples of these genres. For those of you complaining contemporary Thrash Metal is lacking force and brute, I've got something for you! Let me introduce you to Lima -based five-piece destruction crew Hellthrasher. The band has recently released their nine-track EP "En Tinieblas" (Spanish for "In Darkness"). The EP contains about half an hour of pure, heavy, raw and deeply Blackened Thrash Metal . I recommend you to fasten your seatbelts and make sure you have enough space to bang your head like crazy since the five musicians provide you with the roughest full-throttle Thrash Metal. From the darkest depths of the abyss Hellthrasher arise and clench their fists of metal ('puños de metal') to leave nothing but burning rubble and sheer destruction. Recently I received a message from Enrique, drummer of Lima's Laura La Sangrienta, presenting me their newest Singles "El Andar del Ogro" and "Terror en la Quinta Milagros". Laura La Sangrienta means "Bloody Laura" or "Laura covered in Blood", and is the name of a Lima-based three-piece Instrumental Rock band. Laura La Sangrienta play powerful, rough and dirty Rock'n'Roll with a lot of Stoner Rock and even some Sludge input. It has been sixteen years since Reino Ermitaño released their legendary self-titled album. What has been an insider tip for a long time has now been re-released via Peruvian/German record label Necio Records. And there it is now: Reino Ermitaño's masterpiece "Reino Ermitaño", thirteen tracks of bluesy, gloomy Doom Metal, almost an hour of beautiful darkness, musical depth, and gorgeous melodies. For those of my readers who speak Spanish as well as I do: Reino Ermitaño means The Hermit's Kingdom. Reino Ermitaño are a four-piece band from Peru's capital Lima.
