LP Review: The Dalton Correction - Beware of Yarara (2017)
Recently I received the good news that The Dalton Correction's 2017 debut LP "Beware of Yarara" is available on the European market as a vinyl on Possible Records, and for streaming on bandcamp. Now first of all let me introduce you to the great band which unfortunately is still lacking popularity amongst European listeners: The Dalton Correction are a chill quartet from Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. Between 2012 and 2016 they recorded and mastered nine tracks for theirr first longplayer "Beware of Yarara" which was finally released in 2017. Their style is a fresh combination of Garage Rock, Krautrock, some Psychedelia, and the atmosphere of the summer of love 1969.
On "Beware of Yarara" The Dalton Correction play slow but rough 60s Rock. The raw sound of the guitars adds the garage attitude which easily goes hand in hand with clean riffs and the relaxed rhythms of percussions and bass. As the music is often set up in several layers and loops, acoustic licks, distorted riffs, funky beats, and sustained soli combine and merge to an overwhelming holistic picture of sheer beauty in sound and colours. The influences you can hear on "Beware of Yarara" are numerous, as I would name The Beatles, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Can, and maybe even Ton Steine Scherben.
The Dalton Correction who named their debut LP after a venomous snake from the Eastern parts of Sout America fully understand how to create pictures in the listeners' heads with their music. "Beware of Yarara" thus is a colourful trip from European Kraut and Protest Rock scenes over the Atlantic right into the North American desert with cacti and buffalo. From there The Dalton Correction set southwards over indigineous feasts of Latin America until they introduce their audience to the big final of the travel in the South American rainforest.
This Psychedelic Krautrock Garage experience is a holistic adventure for every listener. 60s style music in a modern way.
