Calling All Astronauts - Rapture
(04:23/03:29, Single, Digital, Supersonic Media, 29/07/2022)
London's trio Calling All Astronauts are a solid rock that withstands trends and hypes with stoic calm. While all those tiny whirlwinds and landspouts speed about like fireflies and flickering lights, the English trio autochthonously prove once more why they have the status of a true legend.
CAA's latest single is a heavily thrilling banger in which J Browning (guitars), Paul McCrudden (bass and keys), and David B (vocals, keys and production) share their thoughts on climate change and its devastating effects on our planet and on all life on Earth. Thus, 'Rapture' has become massive beast of Post Punk and Gothic Rock that is not even punk as hell, but also perfectly musicks the dance on a burning coffin that life on Earth is these days.
Deeply atmospheric, mercilessly dark, brutally honest and honestly brutal, Calling All Astronauts call for a final party on a planet that is facing its doom.

Elk City - That Someone
(04:15, Single, Digital, Magic Door Record Label, 31/08/2022)
In the first single off their upcoming album "Above the Water", Elk City from Montclair, New Jersey enchant our senses with deeply comfortable heartwarming tunes. Their latest Dream Rock and Art Pop release reminds of the complete loss of all sense and reason that can even make grown adults stumble - new love.
Between steadily rolling Indie Rock and hazy Shoegaze and Dream Pop, Elk City create the soundtrack for everyone who is on their way to a date, full of excitement, insecurity, joy, and of course love. The Rock'n'Roll claps of the stunning chorus turn this banger into a legit party until they fade out into the psychedelic coda.

giant skeletons - *sleep tides
(78:44, Album, Digital, selfrelease, 31/08/2022)
For those who seek relaxation and salutogenetic soundscapes, the new album "*sleep tides" by Engelskirchen's Nico Walser, also known as giant skeletons is a legit gem.
The instrumental tracks invite the audience to turn off the lights and ban all negativity for at least eighty minutes. Mental cinema and a fantastic journey driven by electronic, ambient and psychedelic sounds go far beyond the rabbit hole and let the listeners find their own centre.
The waves of sound go back and forth, some rise higher and clash on either the water below or the shore, others turn shallow and silent - but all of all are balm for body and soul. As it was tested in the MangoWave headquarters, listening to parts of this album while changing a baby's diapers works very well.

pMad - Sisters
(04:20/03:33, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 31/08/2022)
In his latest ethereal dive into atmospheric Post Punk and ice cold Darkwave and Gothic Rock, Irish artist Paul Dillon, also known as pMad, takes on lost love, and on those who have gone away wandering close to us every day.
The bouyant sound reaches its climax in the symphonic theme of its bridge which stands out like an enormous rock surrounded by cold fog. pMad invites his audience to a happy dance together with the ghosts and demons who elegantly hover across this thrilling tune.

CF98 - This is fine
(33:22, Album, Vinyl/CD/Digital, SBÄM Records, 02/09/2022)
It has been almost tweny years since CF98 were founded in Polish city Kraków. On their latest release - their sixth longplayer - "This is fine", the quartet provides us with full throttle Skate Punk paired with joyful melodies and dynamic tempi. But despite the colourful soundscape, Rafał (drums), Michał (bass), Mati (guitar), Karolina (vocals) confront a lot of people and their bullshit on "This is fine". Conspiracy theorists, sexists, fascists, and other arseholes receive severe stitches when the melodic moshpit party made by CF98 wrecks house.

Lombego Surfers - The High Side
(31:26, Album, Vinyl/Digital, Flight 13/Indigo, 02/09/2022)
When The Lombego Surfers were formed in the late 1980s, a giant wave was formed. Thirty-three years later, the trio has not become a bit tired of surfing on that tide. And they have not lost their mojo a bit since then.
And thus, here is "The High Side", the newest longplayer by The Lombego Surfers, a tasty tidbit for lovers of heavyily rolling Proto Punk, Garage and Surf Rock, and music that makes you dance for hours and only stop for another drink. Nonchalant, easygoing and honest rock music for long nights and amazing parties.

The Good Hex - Sweeping Floor/CPR
(06:59, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 04/09/2022)
And last but not least, here is a new single from Würzburg's Post Punk and Shoegaze duo The Good Hex. Some time has passed since their first tape "declines" was released, and in the meantime The Good Hex have made some severe progress in their sound. While on the new single's eponymous A-Side a strong impact of  ornateKraut and psychedelia has given their Noise Pop a new paint job, the B-Side 'Use to' is a heavy and rock-influenced Post Punk anthem.
