"Stars' Blood" is the result of more than three years of hard work. Portland's trio Rainbow Face has thus made a big effort to please our ears and synapses with their debut. The band consists of
Jake Rose - guitar, vocals, vibraphone and concert bass drum on 'That old Gang of mine',
Dominique Reveneau - bass, tambourine on 'That old Gang of mine', and
Salvador Altamirano-Farrell - keyboards, synthies, sound design, drums on 'Fighter Pilot', marvin on 'Waves'.
Further, the album features as guests:
Joey Burnah - drums on 'Pirates', 'Purgatory' and 'That old Gang of mine',
Matthew Andrews - drums on 'Lord give me Strength' and 'Back in the Bottle',
Jeff Cole - drums on 'Waves',
Daniel Vega - alto saxophone on 'Back in the Bottle',
Tricia Bogdan - viola on 'Massaged by Bullets',
Jing Kappes - violin on 'Massaged by Bullets',
Melissa Tarrell - piano o 'Massaged by Bullets'.

What Rainbow Face have created here is a huge opus. The eight tracks on "Stars' Blood" can be savoured individually or as a whole oeuvre because every piece fits exactly where it belongs. I would consider the backbone of this album to be European-style Prog Rock. There are plenty of elements that rmeind me of Pink Floyd or The Flower Kings.
Further, Rainbow Face let a lot of bachiality merge with this progressive and psychedelic atmosphere. But, I do not mean Morbid Angel-brachiality, but King Crimson-intensity. Heavy riffs and harsh vocals beautifully interact with the clean Psych Prog themes.
And thirdly, there is a symphonic element that defines the latter half of the album especially. Gorgeous soundscapes on the tracks 'Back in the Bottle' and 'Massaged by Bullets' scream that Rainbow Face play Prog Rock for the stadiums and the big theatres.

In my opening phrase I mentioned that it took the band three years to write, record and finalize "Stars' Blood". And I can only repeat that you can definitely hear that. Rainbow Face's debut is an album that is defined by pure perfection. This is a piece of art.
