What happens when you put two long-haired guys into a small cabin at the shores of Kivijärvi in Finland and provide them with instruments (and probably some beverages)? Well, the Tampere-based duo Jerico give us an example. Their debut EP "Stonelake Sessions" is the result of a jam session at this very Kivijärvi. The name of the place can be translated to Stonelake.

The EP contains three songs of heavy Stoner Doom and crunchy Desert Rock. The music sounds like deep and mesmerizing sounds that erase from the depths of our planet. Psychedelic smokes that pour from a crack in the planet's surface define the basic atmosphere of this psychedelic output. The final track 'Kadut' especially refers to the darkest side of the summer of love. The first two songs 'Heavy Smokes' and 'Others (won't dare to go)' show more similarities with post-Sabbath Stoner Doom. You may find some references to Candlemass or Electric Wizard here.

Jerico's debut creates a gloomy soundscape. Nevertheless, "Stoelake Sessions" is hypnotizing and psychedelic. I hope the duo is here to stay because I am really excitied about what they are up to next.
