Overcharge make it pretty obvious what the listeners should expect from their newest release. Firstly, their name is most likely a reference to D-Beat legend Discharge. And secondly, the album title "Metalpunx" leaves no doubt about the music presented here. Overcharge are a trio from Varese (or Varés, in Lombardian). The best way to start this review is by giving three quotes from the band:
1 "Louder than words - speed is the law",
2 "D.I.Y. or die!",
3 "Hate fascism! Drink hard! Love Rock'n'Roll!".
Fuck yes, this is a fully armed warmachine of D-Beat, Rock'n'Roll, Punk and Metal. Overcharge's sound seemlessly draws on to the rusty age of British D-Beat and Swedish Crust Punk. Drummer Panzer comes up to his name by shooting like a howitzer. Bass player Marcio and guitar player Josh use this battlefield to build ultrafast and raw soundscapes of chaos and destruction. The shouted lyrics by Josh and Marcio are brutal and hoarse. I would locate them somewhere between Disclose and Martyrdöd.

As this is the "Edizione Speziale" of "Metalpunx", there are some great specials. The original album features nine tracks of heavily rolling D-Beat. The special edition is completed by two demo songs and three live versions. The latter perfectly mirror the sheer power Overcharge create with their music.
"Metalpunx" might be one of the most honest releases you can expect. It says Metal Punk and it is Metal Punk. Pure fucking Metal Punk. Overcharge are the fully armed warhead ready to overrun fascist arseholes, posers and hypocrites.
