800 Throats - Day of the Woman (MR)
(18:31, EP, Digital, Epictronic Records, 28/01/2022)
During lockdowns, Psytrance, EDM, and Dubstep artist LUKA could not play live gigs, and thus the musician from Johannesburg, South Africa tried out something new. The result are the two EPs "The Madness" and "Day of the Woman". For the project 800 Throats, LUKA does not focus on dance movs or psychedelic atmosphere. On the contrary, this is an extremely dark and claustrophobic mix of Dungeon Synth, Industrial Metal, and nightmares - an amazingly thrilling sonic horror story.

VVORSE - Kurjien Elegia (MR)
(34:36, Album, CD/Digital, selfrelease, 28/01/2022)
Quartet VVORSE from Jyväskylä, Finland serve us with Hardcore and Crust Punk of the darkest kind. On eight tracks with Finnish lyrics, the band presents melancholy, mourning, and grief on rapid and merciless soundscapes. The music on "Kurjien Elegia" (Finnish: "Miserable Elegy") combines elements of Crust Punk à la Mayak or Martyrdöd with Post Black Metal in the style of Der Weg Einer Freiheit or Praise the Plague. Loaded with emotions, force, and plenty of energy, this album is thrilling from beginning to end.

Russ Rankin - Come together fall apart (MR)
(32:22, Album, Vinyl/CD/Digital, SBÄM Records/Melodic Punk Style, 28/01/2022)
While with his band Good Riddance, Russ Rankin predominantly produces Skate Punk and Melodic Hardcore, with his solo project, the American musician is a lot calmer. Acoustic Rock and Folk convey political and personal messages that call for peace, unity, and collectively working for a better future. Melancholy, wanderlust, and passion for harmony define lyrics, vocals, soundscapes, and atmosphere of "Come together fall apart" likewise. Russ Rankins latest album is deeply empowering and salutogenetic.

Lisa and The F.I.X. - Footsteps on the Wall (MR)
(45:31, Album, Vinyl/Digital, selfrelease/Asko Schönberg, 2022)
And now for something completely different. This ten-track album is a collaboration of underground pop idol Lisa from Rotterdam, Netherlands, and The F.I.X. For three quarters of an hour, they create powerful, highly artistic, and deeply expressive pop music. Together with band The F.I.X., Lisa paints colourful images with sounds and words, and thus invites the listeners into a fantastic world far beyond human perception.

Grunge Society - Blackbirds (MR)
(03:42, Single, Digital, Resilient Records, 28/01/2022)
Grunge Society are the brainchild of Venezuelan artist Fernando Cepeda who is currently based in Barcelona, Spain. Neither the music, nor the name make it a great secret where Cepeda has drawn most of his inspiration from. The song about a lucid dream revives the sound of the 1990s and gives it a fresh contemporary paint job. This melancholic and simultaneously dynamic single is the first pretaste of the EP "Nowhere Island" which will be released in the first half of 2022.

Arhat - Symbols
(03:30, single, Digital, selfrelease, 26/01/2022)
With the single 'Symbols', Arhat from Ukrainian capital Kyiv are giving us the first pretaste of their upcoming second album. Like the previous longplayer "Dead Life", the new work will be a concept album (click here to read my review on the debut). This time, Arhat are concerning the mysterious and fascinating realms of Ancient Egypt. The first ex ante single shows that the band has even improved their brutally grooving Technical Death Metal, and thus the anticipation for the new album is huge.

Real Terror - A violência ainda não acabou (MR)
(05:24, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 12/11/2021)
Real Terror from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil are looking back onto the year 2020 and its effects with their latest single '"
A violência ainda não acabou' (Portuguese: 'The Violence is nt over yet'). For over five minutes, the quartet provides their audience with a massive hail of blows and hits. Like a machine gun, they mercilessly shoot their massive style consisting of Thrashcore and Grindcore at our eardrums. The moshpit that is animated by this song is likely to turn into a hurricane.

taumel - lost in space (MR)
(12:14, Single, Digital, Tonzonen/Soulfood, 28/01/2022)
In late 2020, taumel from Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany have released the first part of their "TRAUM" (German: "DREAM") series "there is no way to run away from here". Now, the exceptional band has presented the first single from the series' secod part "Now we stay forever lost in Space together" which will be released on February 18, 2022 via Tonzonen Records. Like on the first longplayer, 'Lost in Space' combines the band's strengths Doom, Jazz, and Ambient, but it also contains a certain Blues Rock energy and some thrilling Space Doom - amazing music to get lost in space to.
