Earthbøund - Evergreen Release: September 02, 2020 Label: selfrelease Format: Digital Length: 14:00 Genre: Progressive Metalcore Origin: Melbourne, Australia

"Evergreen" is the third EP by Melbourne's Progressive Metalcore quintet Earthbøund. It seems like the band is working in two-year plans since their recent releases were "Solstice" (2016) and "Liquify" (2018). The band consits of David Lawson (bass), Rhys Alexander (drums), Daniel Drowley (guitar), Jake Kershaw (guitar), and Tom Armstrong (vocals). The latter two names might sound familiar to some readers who remember Without Beliefs EP "The Parting Gift".

On their third EP Earthbøund play intensive, melodic and heavy Metalcore. The song structures are defined by various rhythms and harsh breaks while the instruments create atmospheric soundscapes. The latter is supported by chequered use of effects and pinches. As the master of ceremony Tom Armstrong shouts and marches forward with the intensity of awar machine.

THis is the sophisticated version of Metalcore. Earthbøund make a difference in a genre that is endangered of repeating itself too often. Unfortunately, the 4-track EP is rather short which makes me hope that the next release will contain some more tracks.
