Athen's Krause are Nick Prapas (drums), Kostas Kagkelaris (bass, vocals), Alex Vagenas (guitar, vocals) and Babis Kourkoulis (guitar, vocals). The band was formed four years ago and has released two albus so far. For 2020's record store day, a new 7'' single is out. Let's have a closer look at this beast!

A-Side: "Vague Outlines of almost recognisable Shapes" - 05:02

Oh yes, the name fits the sund perfectly. Krause create a thick swamp of sound. Fuzz, distortion and crunch come together in a mid-tempo Blues dance of doom. You can dissect this huge beast of sound layer by layer and find goregous noisy details every time. Highlight of the song is the Stoner-like guitar lead half-way thorugh the song that leads into the very experimental ending. The constrained voices fade and an artistic cacophony begins.

B-Side: "The Fraternity of lost Men-Children" - 03:36

This one is a bit more dynamic and krauty. A dominant bass line drives the verses forward until it crashes into the huge sludgy wall of the chorus. Even though the basic structure of this track seems a lot simpler, once again it is the noises behind the main themes that make it so interesting. Background noises, scratchy leads and the final pirouette by one of the guitars make this song so exciting.

This is some beautiful sludgy Noise Kraut. Krause make this year's Record Store Day a great one.
