Some of you might know Artemis. The artist from central Russian town Perm is the frontman and vocalist of Heavy Rock and Doom Metal band Scarecrow. For his one-person project Artemis' The Endless Journey he is leaving the paths of Rock and Metal completely. Instead, here the focus is on symphonic and atmospheric music with a cinematic character.

The CDs inlay is a beautiful book of pictures showing the stunning grace of the Northern hemisphere. Unspoiled and rough nature invites you to daydream full of wanderlust. The tundra, icy landscapes, fjords, the Northern ocean, forests and icebergs present a sphere where humanity has hardly set foot yet. Each photograph is full of desire and calm.

And sound-wise? The arrangements on this concept album fit the images perfectly. Artemis musicks the impressions of the Northern hemisphere with plenty of instruments and sounds. Some samples of waves, dogs and doves add to the impression. The song 'Tundra' also features a voice sample in a language I cannot recognize.
Folky tunes and symphonic arrangements make you dive into the gorgeous photographs and invite you on a journey to some of the coldest places on our planet.
Next time I watch a documentary report on the Arctic Sea, I will turn off the TVs volume and listen to "North" instead.
On one hour Artemis' The Endless Journey takes us by the hand and shows us around to places defned by ice-cold beauty. This album is a stunning masterpiece of stunning instrumental music. Fans of cinematic Post Rock will find their joy with this one, too.
