MuddiBrooke - You don't own me (MR)
(02:22, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 10/06/2022)
In the early 1960s, Lesley Gore's album "Leslie Gore sings of Mixed-Up Heart" featured the stunning anthem 'You don't own me'. This highly empowering and strong hymn conveyed the message who ought decide about what a woman does, where she goes, whom she has contact with, etc: the woman herself. Sounds pretty obvious, but unfortunately still needs to be explained to plenty of people.
Around sixty years later, the struggle is still real. Thus, MuddiBrooke from English town Derby take a look around regarding what has been attained so far, and what has still to be done. Thus, the trio from England pays hommage to iconic artist Leslie Gore by reinterpreting the feminst classic. They do so by giving the anthemic track a whole new sonic paintjob and therefore playing a heavy, dynamic Grunge and Alternative Rock version of the classic. The battle for equal rights continues, stronger than ever before, and it will not halt before equality is reached - sounds and styles may change, the spirit stays the same. And this cover version is an amazing reinterpretation - a solid banger!

Pulse Park - Phonac Music (MR)
(31:17, Album, Digital, GrindEthos Records/Shore Dive Records, 16/04/2022)
Apparently, Pulse Park are Justin Trudeau's favourite German Rock band. Whether the Canadian Prime Minister really dances from briefing to meeting to the sounds of dynamic tracks such as 'Sine Wave' may stay unknown. Fact is yet, that the debut album by Oliver Polastri, Frank Hagen, and Magnusson is a great collection of joyfully melancholic and dreamily dynamic sounds. The German-Canadian trion easily manages to combine the sonic reverie of Dream Pop and Shoegaze with heavier Post Punk and Indie Rock sounds. Between emotional sounds like 'Factory Fire' or 'Strange Matter' and upbeat dancefloor-sweeping bangers such as the opener 'Antibody' or 'Aspairt', Pulse Park are constantly strong and confident. This amazing debut album is a strong announcement by an Indie Rock band whose name you should keep in mind.

Femegades - Speechless (MR)
(02:26, Single, Digital, Regent Street Records, 02/06/2022)
You may have heard that not all men... yes, it sounds ridiculous - always has, and always will. "Not all Men" is not only the beginning of a hollow phrase used by anti-feminist apologetics, it is also the title of London's Femegades' upcoming sophomore EP. Their debut EP "Pornsick" is still fresh as warm cookie dough, and the band is already on its way to seemlessly continue the mission.
Together with Gemma Aitchinson, Femegades have hereby produced a massive mid-tempo banger of a Grunge song. A heavily crunchy verse provides thrill and tension until it discharges in the sweeping blow that is the chorus. With the bridge, the big finale is being introduced, and this is where everyone should join in and sing along with the Femegades' sarcastic and catchy take on the phrase "Not all Men...".

Keith Richard Shorey - Mourning Light (MR)
(04:56, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 22/04/2022)
On his first single, New England's Keith Richard Shorey is taking his audience on a fantastic and psychedelic journey. 'Mourning Light' is the first ex ant single to the artist's self-titled debut album which can be expected to drop soon.
Shorey paints gorgeous and thrilling pictures with his music. An artistic, versatile, and yet catchy song structure lets the listeners move across the soundscape with the freedom of movement only waterfowls know. From flying above wet surfs, diving into the refreshing water, and exiting the liquid and then using one's wings to fly upwards, this sounds musicks pure liberty.
Keith Richard Shorey enchants the hearing with Prog and Psych that are neither too soft and hazy, nor to brachial and heavy. By presenting this golden line between Post Rock, Indie Pop, Psychedelic Rock, and Prog, Shorey creates a five-minute holiday for body and soul.

The Surf Hermits - Showdown
(39:00, Album, Vinyl/CD/Digital, selfrelease, 25/05/2022)
Less than a year after the release of debut album "Hang Zen", The Surf Hermits from Creston, British Columbia are back to give us more cinematic and thrilling Surf and Western sounds. The dozen-track release is a gorgeous sonic journey to the world where Enrico Morricone meets Priscilla Presley at a beach club where they sip some bacardis, exchange knowledge about surf boards, and maybe set the whole place on fire when leaving. Garage Rock bangers like 'El Guepe Guapo' meet burning hot songs like 'Jet City Rumble', and the classic Surf sound always allows the audience to hold a drink while clapping to the beat.

Aural Nihil - Aural Nihil (MR)
(45:04, Album, CD/Digital, selfrelease, 10/06/2022)
Aural Nihil is the newest project by Italy mastermind Emmanuele Gattuso. The self-titled debut album features eleven tracks that let the listeners dive into a dark, gloomy, spooky, and yet deeply fascinating sonic world. Experimental soundscapes that are born from the rift between dreams and nightmares, between sleep and wake, between light and dark, enchant the audience's senses and drag us deep into a world far beneath the rabbit hole. One might find parallels to genre such as Dark Pop, Glitch, or Trip Hop, but predominantly this is the Aural Nihil Sound that may exist in a similar sphere as the music by Edward Ka-Spel &Motion Kapture or Brother Grimm. So turn up the volume and dive into this unique sensual sound.

Malfested - Unethical Creations (MR)
(27:06, Album, Digital, selfrelease, 10/06/2022)
Twenty months after the release of their debut EP "Shallow Graves", Malfested from Belgian town Kortrijk are back with their concept album "Unethical Creations". Since the last release, Malfested have refined their crashing style of combining brachially grooving Death Metal with atmospheric and sonorous Doom Metal. Now on "Unethical Creation", they use this sound to tell of a scientist whose work lacked appreciation since it was regarded as unethical by the people of their time. The genius did not stop from working on their ideas while anger and desolation grew steadily, and thus they created the plague that was ready to extinguish all life on Earth.

Mango in Euphoria - Goddess (MR)
(03:32, Single, Digital, So Far So Good Records, 10/06/2022)
It is a return like phoenix from the ashes, like the caterpillar that has left its cocoon and now presents its gorgeous and shiny butterfly wings to the world. It is the great return of Mango in Euphoria, Bohemian Pop artist, avantgardist blender of Electronica, Wave, and Rock, sonic snake charmer, and performance giant.
Mango in Euphoria's new song 'Goddess' is a flagship that fills out every space and spreads the joyful message that Mango is back in the most colourful letters and pictures one could imagine. This goes far beyond Bohemian Pop as Gothic and Wave let their gloomy, dark tones support the bright soundscapes of Indie Rock and Dream Pop - and as the sonic movement climaxes in the chorus, everyone knows the goddess has entered the building.

Pyramid - Sun Beam / Krypta
(11:15, Double-Single, Digital, Made of Stone Recordings, 10/06/2022)
This double single release may be regarded as some kind of a joint between the debut album "Mind Maze" and the upcoming sophomore longplayer which can be expected to announced soon. But this is far more than just an intermediate release by Nuremberg's Space Rock band Pyramid - this is a stunning presentation of psychedelic and hypnotizing Rock music. On the first track, Pyramid let their audience glide into the remotest corners of our universe, driven by a Krautrock engine and fascinating Space Rock images. The second track 'Krypta' is a sonic journey into the deepest solitude of a planet's core - thrilling, exciting, and adventurous.

Yoo Doo Right - A Murmur, Boundless to the East (MR)
(45:55, Album, Vinyl/Digital, Mothland, 10/06/2022)
Name and title alone are full of references. Krautrock legends CAN meet Desert Rock mosnters Thin White Rope here. So what can we expect from thi new album by Québécois trio Yoo Doo Right? Bone-dry psychedelia? Dynamic but gentle atmospheric sounds? Both answers apply to a certain extent.
With their impressive soundscapes, the band from Montreal spreads a gigantic space of vast emptiness crowded by flickering particles, heat, movement, and monumental elements only the blind eye can see.
Bouyance and grace are the terms that fit the movement of "A Murmur, Boundless to the East" best. Like this, Yoo Doo Right show us around in a world that is so strange and foreign to us that every spark is loaded with fascination and excitement. Thus, a deeply psychedelic journey which goes far beyond the realms of Post, Psych, Kraut, or other genres can be undertaken by putting this vinyl on your record player.
