Low tunes, heavily stomping beats, occult atmosphere and high-pitched guitar licks propelling above the dark soundscape. Hell yes, it's time for Stoner Doom! Puresonic Outcasts from the UK have released their first EP "Reflections on this present Condition" earlier this year. On five tracks the quartet presents their perception of the reality that surrounds us.

Starting off, their EP has a very typical Doom Metal aura containing fuzzy riffing on halting beats. Once you think you know what to expect from the EP, Puresonic Outcasts go pedal on the metal and surprise their listeners with straightforwardly rolling Stoner Rock. Yet, the air is filled with smoke and rattling sounds. Like a tank riding through ashes and rubble of wrecked town the band moves forward.

The most outstanding feature of the music on the EP is the element of the unexpected. Puresonic Outcasts play tricks on the assumptions of the hearing and present a ton of surprises on "Reflections on this present Condition". Not only are the breaks between occult Doom and smoking Stoner Rock a source of joy. Also, one might expect Dopethrone-like vocals or deep chorals. Instead, hoarse but powerful and unorthodox singing coins the five songs.
I am somewhat reminded of Peruvian Doom Metal legend Reino Ermitaño with some similarities to Germany's Mirror of Deception. Puresonic Outcasts are taking a very unique line between orthodox and unorthodox Stoner and Doom.
