Single Review: Comatose Red Ivy - 23 Jordan Salute (2022) - Guest Feature by Dmitriy Churilov
First of all, and because it cannot be said often enough:
нет войны | ні війні | No War
How to help the people in Ukraine

Desperate times demand desperate solutions. And rap, specifically extreme rap that is out of the borders of, well, almost everything. 23 Jordan Salute is an offering from Comatose Red Ivy, an enigmatic wordsmith, a self-proclaimed Transgender Dead Living Zombie Bytch. Take notes, put it to your agenda and enter the realm of sneaker-worshippping rap.
Ivy’s approach kinda reminds me of Necro - take a dive to Beatport, pick one that would fit a UFC promo, don’t edit it in any way and throw your lines on it. Move, Lil Nas, new queeng is here.
The track kicks off with a pretentious key intro (and bell sample) that transforms in the actual beat, the only one present in the song. Ivy’s production method is raw and sticky - all the noises and mic clippings are left in the mix. The flow is… also present, I guess. The rapping itself is just line after line praising the Jordans.
The track is also accompanied by a music video that consists of wikipedia screenshots. Next level meta irony shit.
If Frank Zappa is too normal for you, look no further - Comatose Red Ivy is your choice.
