Album Review - KNEI - III (2020)

It's time to put on some comfortable clothes, open a drink if you like and come together for a big dance. KNEI from La Pampa, Argentina are reviving the Summer of Love with their new album "III". The five-track record was released last June and will be availabe for records lovers via Nécio Records this May. And I tell you, KNEI play the kind of music you really want to listen to on vinyl!

A bit more than half an hour of beautifully rolling Psychedelic Rock are to be experienced on "III". KNEI themselves call their style "Rock Psicopampa". Clean guitar, fuzzy and warm bass and heavily marching drums invite us on a gorgeous time travelling trip to the 60s.
Right after the strong opener 'Vieja mujer (besos de otro días)' ('Old Lady (kisses from another day)' KNEI dive into the emotional slow jam 'Balada para una amiga' ('Ballad for a friend'). Like the track 'Nuvem Leopardo' the ballad features a chamber orchestra consisting of:
Sebastian Viotto - Violin,
Cristian Luzza - Violin,
Guido Kohn - Cello,
Juan Pablo Peláez - Trumpet,
Santiago Koziner - Traverse Flute and
Manuel Delrío - Trombone & Direction.
With 'Mensaje eterno' ('eternal message') another uptempo song shakes our bodies and minds, and then guest musician Luis Balcare opens 'Jardín' ('garden') on the lapsteel guitar. After we had some minutes to catch some breath during this beautifully melodic piece, it's time for some Rock'n'Roll. 'Caso perdido' ('lost cause') is a heavy Psych'n'Roll dance with lots of changes in tempo and mood.
The following 'Nuvem Leopardo' ('Leopard cloud') is a moving (Symphonic) Prog track supported by the chamber orchestra once more. And, with the last song '¿Qué esta bien y que esta mal?' ('What is right and what is wrong?') KNEI are back to their dynamic Psych'n'Roll.
Concluding, I can only say that this is an amazing album. Your next party is safe if you play this record. Just close your eyes, take a sip of your drink and let the music move your body.
