Album Review: The Outsider - From ancient Gods and forbidden Books (2020)

Hello there! It's Horror Monday!
I received access to the new album by Mexican one-person Avantgarde Death Metal project The Outsider. That means 66 minutes of Horror and Symphonic Metal being available via Killsound Productions on April 24, 2020.
The Outsider reinvented their avantgarde once more. Abandoning oriental motifs for the most part on the new album the project is presenting instruments and musical features of the pre-Hispanic era of Central America. Those are intertwined with Jazz passages, huge symphonic arrangements, choirs and brutal frightening Death Metal. The outcome is a brachial and beautilfully scaring listening experience.
The setting relocates the listeners to the dark world of pre-Hispanic beliefs and religion. The Outsider impressively musick the fear of an apocalypse to come and pictographically describe the horrors of sacrifices for the ancient gods. It is a scary world the band shows us. But it is amazing how these gruesome images are presented by their versatile music.
For this cinematic piece the one-person project gathered several guest musicians. Featured vocalists are Kelly Shaefer on 'The Headless Horror' and Rick Loera on 'Primordial Abyssal Chaos'. Further Kristian Niemann plays the guitar solo on 'Bringers of the Apocalypse' and Jørgen Munkeby plays the saxophone on 'Suicide is Progress'.
It is astonishing how comprehensible The Outsider musick apocalyptic themes without using many features from Doom Metal. This is Avantgarde Horror Metal at its best. I am hearing some similarities to Australian one-person project Vile Crone.
Summing up this is a beautiful horror experience. If your scary movie night is lacking the right films or a screen, just put on this record, close your eyes and embrace the apocalypse.
