Do you still mourn Iced Earth’s deconstruction after the infamous Capitol Hill riot? Well, grieve no more - Galladorn is here to deliver the heaviest metal for your longing soul.
Galladorn is an emerging duo, formed in 2020. To this day this two-piece UK metal outfit has released two exquisite covers for Hammerfall’s “The Dragon Lies Bleeding” and Iced Earth’s “Dark Saga” (duh). But today we are going to highlight the band’s latest instalment entitled “The Cauldron Born”.
This is a classic 5 and minute heavy metal epic, raised on the steady diet of Blind Guardian and Savatage but multiplied by todays standards and experience.
The single kicks off with a machinegun kick drum beat and an “in your face” riff, followed with and instant heavy metal classic - the high pitched scream, or should i say, THE SCREAM. With the verses band chose the win-win strategy, using the double vocal track to empower the already rich mix.
The eerie chorus tone is a nice switch that really shines on the contrast with the classic bridge part, as well as the (sexy) solo and post-solo development reminiscent of the Maiden style. Holding on to the scheme, we’ve got another verse and chorus, none of that fancy avante bullshit. The song is closed with the straightforward badass riff, I mean it.
What makes the song supreme is undoubtedly the work with soundproduction. It’s borderline flawless - the mix, the compression, the tone give out that Galladorn know exactly how they like their metal and know how to cook it.
“The Cauldron Born” paves the way for inevitable Galladorn reign and we are just so lucky to be living in the same timeline. All hail the Cauldron!
