The Miller Test - Southend Vic (MR)
(03:28, Single, Digital, Test Records, 25/02/2022)
On the second single off their sophomore album "Dead Blue", The Miller Test from London, England on a wholesome sonic trip from melancholia to passion, from dreams to nightmares and back to being awake, and from love to fear. Thick Shoegaze and Dream Pop create a coastal fog that is decorated by the flickering lights of Trip Hop and Glitch elements, while the stunningly ethereal vocals complete this thrilling dreamy soundscape. The Miller Test's 'Sounthend Vic' is an amazing musical impression of a kind of dream everyone can relate to. Also, this single and its great music video are a good reminder to put the album "Dead Blue" on heavy rotation.

Lakeside X - Rising (MR)
(03:36, Single, Digital, Musicraft, 25/02/2022)
The second single off Lakeside X's upcoming album plays a central role for the longplayer's promotional phase since in the chorus of 'Rising', the album title "Love Disappears" is revealed. The creative process was influenced by Synthpop and avantgardist artists such as Depeche Mode, David Bowie, or Nick Cave, and by their legendary albums which recorded in Germany capital Berlin. And everyone who has ever visited this city will immediately be reminded of its unqiue vibations that are perfectly represented in the new single by Lakeside X. The band from Prague, Czechia creates a dynamic and yet melancholic Post Punk and Synthwave anthem fit for the clubs that combines colourfulness and grey in the typical Berlin-way.

Snakedoctors - Crime Story (MR)
(03:36, Single, Digital, MyMusic, 15/03/2022)
And speaking of melancholia, Grunge and New Wave band Snakedoctors from Polish city Gdańsk are a perfect fit to come up next with their latest single release 'Crime Story'. The gloomiyl thrilling soundscape is the first pretaste of the Snakedoctors' upcoming fourth full-length release "Four" which will be out before mid-2022. The new single shows the band's tendency towards implementing more synthesizer sounds to their music and thus moving further towards the realms of Darkwave, Coldwave, or New Order-style Post Punk. And yet, 'Crime Story' is a dynamic Indie Rock track driven by feet-moving beats and painted in colourful darkness.

Screaming Bones - It'll all come in time (MR)
(60:51, Album, Digital, selfrelease, 21/03/2022)
Only four months after the release of the previous longplayer "with yourself" (featured in Fresh Mango: February 21, 2022), Mike Ludwig from Darmstadt, Germany, also known as Screaming Bones is back with another hour-long album. The latest album by the artist from the Odenwald region is introduced by the thirteen-minute longtrack 'Journey through your Inner Cosmos, Pt. 1' whose second part is listed before the 'Outro' and which even breaks the twenty-minute mark. Not only do these stunning songs exactly keep what their titles promise, they also enframe this thrilling and deeply relaxing Psychedelic Space Rock trip. Screaming Bones lead us past foreign stellar constellations and thereby allow us to meditatingly explore the universe and ourselves simulatenously.

Olly Lagemann | Katja Stock - WEISS (MR)
(12:17, EP, Digital, ES&L Entertainment, 25/02/2022)
In Germany's North and beyond there, Katja Stoll and Olly Lagemann have been regular guests of rock music stages for ages. While working on a new project, Katja, fronting bands Docks 2850 and Lost Anchor has reunited with Olly who plays with Hedge Sidekick, Cats TV and Loz Tinitoz. In no time, the two Cuxhaven-based musician were afflicted with nostalgia of the awesome time they had working together - and thus, the song 'Steile Zeit' (colloquial German: 'awesome time') was born. On fire, Olly and Katja wrote three more songs, the friendship anthem 'Ein ganzes Leben' ('A whole Life'), the optimist 'Lass die Traurigkeit' ('Let go of sadness'), and the hopeful ballad 'Nicht gehen' ('Not to go'). Apart from the latter very calm song, the duo actively revives the golden era of 1980s German Pop music by adding heavy guitar riffs and dynamic beats to it. The results are four catchy anthems for the hopeful who also love to go crazy on the dancefloor, collected as an EP called "WEISS" (old spelling of "weiß" = "white").

BakaNeko Project - Cat me if you can (MR)
(32:04, Album, CD/Digital, selfrelease, 22/02/2022)
Zenta Sato from Asagaya in the Japanese prefacture of Tokyo is a multiinstrumentalist and head of Asagayans Records and Bokenasu Records. When working and producing music as BakaNeko Project, the artists dedicates his songs to the furry little creatures that have dominated humankind for thousands of years. The project's name refers to Japanese バカ 猫 (stupid cat), and its latest album release "Cat me if you can" is a cinematic New Wave and Avantgarde Rock hommage to cats exuberantly running around, pushing things over, licking themselves all over, and being adorable and threatening at the same time. Synthwave smooth as a feline belly interchanges with Jazz and Rock sharp as the animals' claws. Close you eyer, turn up the volume and enjoy the catcinema.

Matyascorvinus - Tree of Life (MR)
(03:19, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 18/02/2022)
Although it was originally released before the aggressive war that has sustainably disrupted the lives of millions in Ukraine, Matyas from Kotka, Finland has dedicated his new single 'Tree of Life' to those who had to flee and who will very likely never return to their old lives again. The Celtic symbol of the Tree of Life may stand for life itself but can also refer to a gigantic entitiy in the middle of the universe holding everything together - good and evil, life and death, light and darkness. This holistic and powerful image receives a gorgeous and stunning minimalist instrumental ode by Matyscorvinus. A hymn that does not need words for its expressive energy, 'Tree of Life' is a stunning Folk tune to dive into.

The Qwarks - You are not Fans (You are our Friends) (MR)
(02:59, Single, Digital, selfrelease, 04/02/2022)
Fortunately for all of us, The Qwark from Brighton, England being cancelled was only an album title. A review on this full-length release can be found here. Recently, the Psychedelic Prog trio has released the anthemic new single 'You are not Fans (You are our Friends)'. On the surface, this is a beautiful musical tribute fandom and to everyone who supports The Qwarks and other artists with their dedication and enthusiasm. Digging a bit deeper, a sarcastic take on social media culture can be revealed. And finally, music-wise, The Qwarks hereby provide one of their greatest songs ever written. Highly energetic Garage Rock is merged with 60s' progressive psychedelia, an anthemic Punk chorus and a dominant synthetic trumpet that reminds of Mersey Beat.

The ROLF - Wrong Turn/U-Turn (MR)
(03:16, Single, Digital, Candlestick Hill, 04/04/2022)
On their third single 'Wrong Turn/U-Turn', Garage Rock duo The ROLF from Stockholm, Sweden express their sadness and anger about the current state of our world in which the bullies make the rules. This may be the sexist male employer who abuses his position to oppress non-male employees, or the right wing populist setting his bonehead entourage against minorities, or the war criminal president sending his army against the Ukrainian population. Yet, The ROLF's single is dynamic and catchy Garage Rock anthem which makes it the perfect anthem for those who oppose the bullies, and for those who choose solidarity over oppression.

Big Mountain County - Where are you? (Al Lover Remix) (MR)
(06:23, Single, Digital, Porto Records, 25/03/2022)
Although it is not necessary for loving this remix to have listened to the original track  'Where you?' by Post Punk band Big Mountain County from Rome, Italy, it definitely makes the experience more wholesome. So, click here for listening to the original version. Also, the previously released remix version by Hugo Sanchez is definitely worth checking out. Do so by clicking here.
Nevertheless, this is about the latest version which has been modeled by Los Angeles-based expert of psychedelic music Al Lover. The masterful fingers of the Californian artist transform the dark Post Punk tune into a thick and imposant mesmerizing tune. Krautrock and Electronica à la Berliner Schule paint images of thousands of colours while misty Shoegaze and stoic Dub define the song's movement. This is without any doubts a masterfully artistic reinterpretation of an awesome song.
