"Have a Beer in Stratosphere"? Sounds like an invitation to a tasty can of Space Beer. I'm definitely interested! The CD on hand is the first longplayer by Brew Berrymore from Upper Palatinate in Bavaria. The quintet calls their style Future Rock or Alpaca Rock which might need some further definition, but that's what I'm here for. But first of all, I am very excited because alpacas are one of my favourite animals. Also, I'm really keen on drinking that Space Beer!

The common terms that fit best for the music on "Have a Beer in Stratosphere" are Indie Rock and Alternative. With a hammond organ, synthesizers, guitar, bass, and drums, Brew Berrymore create a futuristic and independet sound. The effects on the instruments resemble Science Fiction films about leaderless space oddysseys. The crackligs sounds somehow add an air of Euro Dance.

Indie Rock fans might find some resemblance to artists like The Libertines or The White Stripes. Yet, Brew Berrymore add that smooth but dark Alternative Rock atmosphere to their music. And then thre is that heavy impact by the synthies and the electrifying effects which define their music as Future Rock. The hammond organ on the other hand creates a beautiful contrast to the futuristic sounds. It makes "Have a Beer in Stratosphere" appear like a view on a far future - but as seen from 1980.

In the lyrics, Brew Berrymore show that they had a lot of fun writing these songs. The qunitet presents itself sympathetic, humourous, and focused on the issues of our digital present. "Have a Beer in Stratosphere" is a highly exciting, versatile and motivating release of Retro-Future-Indie-.... screw it! It's beautiful Alpaca and Future Rock.
