When you're frustrated or disappionted, you might shout "Seum!". At least when French is your mother tongue. I must confess that although I learned French at school, this is the first time I heard that word.
Seum also is the name of a Sludge trio from Montreal in Québec. It consists of Gaspard (vocals; Lord Humungus), Piotr (bass; Mlah!), and Fred  (drums; Uluun). You're missing a guitar here? Actually, I don't.

The trio's debut EP has everything smoked-out Sludge needs: heavy-weight drums, cracking bass riffs and hoarse screams for the lyrics. Mid-tempo Doom Metal themes make their way through the six tracks on "Summer of Seum". The sound is raw, rough and grinding. And on top it is original since Seum recorded the complete EP during a live session at Montreal's Studio 365 in July.

"Summer of Seum" is the love child of Venom and Electric Wizard after a wild night with plenty of opium on an Arab bazaar. Seum play minimalistic, intense and noteworthy Sludge. The EP sounds like an erect middlefinger coming out of a grave at 04:20 AM.
