The name Burning Sister might sound familiar to fans of Amon Düül II. It is also the name of a trio from Denver, consisting of Alison (drums), Drake (guitars), and Steve (bass and vocals). The band from Colorado is hereby setting foot on the Psychedelic and Stoner Rock terrain with their selftitled debut EP. On five tracks and almost half an hour Burning Sister present their Mile High Downer Rock to us.

Heavy drums make the backbone of Burning Sister's massive sounds. The beats are an intense mix of Krautrock dynamics and stomping Doom Metal. This movement is accompanied by the ultra deep sounds of the bass that jump through a swampy surface with heavy but swift boots. The crunchy guitar sounds lightfootedly meander between oozy Blues and sandy Desert Rock. And on top there are the clean vocals telling us the scary narrative of the Burning Sister.

The name "Mile High Downer Rock" fits the music of Burning Sister extraordinarily well. While listening you can feel super high (as in space-high) and extremely low at the same time. The trio has managed to situate their music on board of a space station and knee-deep in a thick swamp at the same time.
