Reptilians from Andromeda are a Garage and Punk Rock band from Istanbul, founded in 2013. Despite the unfortunate fact I haven't heard of this band before, they have been quite active over the last seven years. Next to several releases and splits Reptilians from Andromeda have toured Europe and will hopefull play in Canada, Germany and Japan in 2021. "Must be destroyed!" is their newest release on which you can listen to Kerim Gönencer (bass), Tolga Özbey (guitar), Aybike Çelik Özbey (vocals) and Onat Hafız (drums). As a special guest Deniz Felder plays the saxophone on 'Don't trust any'.

The music on "Must be destroyed!" is a classic and dynamic display of 70s and 80s Punk Rock with some honest Garage and DIY attitude. I would out this record on playlists with bands like X-Ray Spex, The Slits or Blondie. Reptilians fro Andromeda move forward with mid-tempo beats, crunchy sound effects and butt-moving rhythms. 'Don't trust any' especially is a highly motivating Punk'n'Roll due to the dominant saxophone.

I am not the biggest insider to Turkish Punk Rock, but from what I have heard so far, many bands sing in their mother language. Thus, the English lyrics by Reptilians from Andromeda mark a difference to bands such as Rashit (where guitar player Tolga also plays). Actually, the music on "Must be destroyed!" fits the features of 70s British Punk Rock so much, I would have never guessed the band was from Istanbul. The "Western" sound is emphasized by Reptilians from Andromeda playing a cover version of 'Eyeball' by Atlanta's Glam Punk Rockers Subsonics.

"Must be destroyed!" is a powerful release and an amazing hommage to the origins of Punk Rock. Reptilains from Andromeda kick ass. If you are convinced as much as I am, order the LP here.
