The Rant - vorsichtig optmistisch
Release Date: October, 11, 2020
Label: selfrelease

Gene: Punk Rock / Indie Rock
Origin: Karlsruhe, Germany

The Rant from Karlsruhe have released their debut album "vorsichtig optimistisch" (German: "cautiously optimist"). And I can tell you that this is an honest independent release. The ten tracks were recorded in the quartet's rehearsal room earlier this year and are now available via Bandcamp for free. And fitting to that The Rant play a melodic and autochthonous mix of melodic Punk and Indie Rock. This is the kind of DIY that I enjoy.

The songs on "vorsichtig optimistisch" concern issues of our contemporary times and every-day life. That includes every-day racism and stupidity. The track 'Fear of the Quark' is a nice blow against all those "I'm not racist, but..." arseholes.
Music-wise The Rant are very melodic and show some features of 77 Punk, but mostly I would declare their style as a melodic and independent version of Deutschpunk. Some of the notes are a bit off key, especially vocas and backing vocals. But honestly, I do not dislike this. It adds to the dilettant charme that defines honest Punk Rock. If you listen to German Punk a lot, you might find some similarities to bands such as Borrachos or Kreftich.
Keep up with good work, lads! Looking forward for more The Rant releases!
