Back in April 2021, Irish musician David Christy Jones welcomed us to virology. Recently, the fourth single and video release from the album has been released, and thus let us take a closer look at the title 'The New Normal' - a term that appears very common after almost one-and-a-half years living under the influence of COVID on our species.


The video shot by Laura Raye and edited by David Christy Jones has a very strong vibe of artists like Jim Jarmush, Darren Aronofsky, or David Lynch. The melancholy of lyrics and music are emphasized visually in a beautiful way, and therefore make the audiovisual experience so wholesome.
Different to many of the tracks from "Welcome to Virology", 'The New Normal' does not contain as much Prog Rock influence, and instead is a silken-smooth Alternative Rock ballad. The bells and chimes even give the soundscape a certain hopeful, christmassy atmosphere.
