London-based trio Desert Ships is leading their audience on a psychedelic trip in their latest single 'Neon'. Hallucinogetic or psychedelic journeys are a common thing in fuzz-laden rock music, and they often make us discover deep space, untouched regions of our home planet, or even the inside of our brain. Well, Desert Ships' 'Neon' is different. Together with the three-piece band, we wander through empty streets of a metropolitan city. With neon lights flashing and flickering everywhere, this dystopian experience is a lucid dream that will most likely appear like a nightmare.
Film make Gil de Ray has produced this psychedelic video for the single:

A sonorous walking bass, clashy garage sound on the guitars, and a stoic drum rhythm creates the foundation for this nocturnal ride through the loneliness of a world illuminated by lights as cold as a grave. The psychedelic sounds of the keys emphasize the feeling of being in a deep dream - and hoping to wake up. And finally, the smooth lyrics lead the narrative of this fantastic journey that could be made during the first lockdown.
