David "DC" Macmillan (drums) and Ali Murray (vocals, guitars, bass) are two residents of the Isle of Lewis (or Eilean Leòdhais in Scottish Gaelic), the largest island of the Outer Hebrides, and the upper part of Lewis and Harris. In the year 2020, the two musicians formed the Fall Town and started recording music that refers to the soundtrack of their youth and adolescence. Shortly before the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland could announce the first strict COVID lockdown, the duo hastily finished the recordings to their first album "After the Crash". But do not be afraid here; the haste cannot be heard on this release.

Lyrics that tell about major and minor disappointments, about being sad, disconnected and alone define the narrative of the eight tracks on "After the Crash". Fall Town give a voice to those who are often unheard: the lonely, the isolated, the sad, the forgotten. And yet, behind all the melancholy of the album, Fall Town have implemented the element of hope to their sounds.

Late-Cold War-era Post Punk and Alternative Rock create a gloomy sepia sonic environment on which Ali and David tell their heart-rending stories. Music-wise, silken soft passages lead into massively rolling and deeply dark climaxes, and after all, there is the powerful impact of Punk Rock that shows up between the melodic and gloomily harmonic episodes. It is this very element that adds the positivity to "After the Crash"; it is that Punk Rock attitude that screams "We're not giving up!" from the heavy sea of melancholia. And it is that mixture that makes this album so gorgeous.
