Single Review: Galladorn - The Dragon Lies Bleeding (2021) - Guest Feature by Ilya Yclept

Galladorn – The Dragon Lies Bleeding (Hammerfall Cover) Release Date: November 19th, 2021 Label: Mariana Trench Records Format: single Length: 4:18 Genre: Power Metal

Galladorn, a two-piece metal division, has unleashed a mighty furious cover version of a Hammerfall’s classic, Dragon Lies Bleeding. And it’s pure gold!

Originally the song sets the highest bar for the genre, introducing the band to the pantheon of Maiden, Savatage and Blind Guardian. So Galladorn had little space to top it, but rather improve - and they did.

The song still breathes the classic heavy metal spirit, but now with better sound. Everything is very close to the original, you can call the purist cover reimaging, because there is actually nothing new to the tune, but the production. Technically it’s flawless and I mean it: the guitar tone, the sound, the vocals and drums, it's an instant win on every level imaginable.

I cannot imagine anyone who claims to love metal disliking this cover - either the person’s deaf or dumb. Or both. Give yourself a treat, play it as loud as possible in your car when driving, but watch out for the speed limit and BLEEDING DRAGONS on your way.
