Atthough the single 'Gotta get out' is Fox Fagan's first release as a solo artist, the musician from LA might not completely be unknown to people who enjoy independent, soulful and melancholic rock music. Fagan is the bass player and vocalist for Los Angeles-based Indie / Alternative and Shoegaze band Teleskopes - their sound is really worth checking out.
Nevertheless, the main focus here is on Fox Fagan and his solo debut single 'Gotta get out'. The title speaks for itself. Fox Fagan addresses the ever ongoing sadness of routine. As the wheel keeps turning, he realizes has to get out.
The hypnotizing piano sound pairs with the marching drum sound and sets the listeners into a deep trance. These sounds ae almost paralyzing, but then guitar and vocals kick in. The piano theme stays present in the background as Fox Fagan lets some fuzzy Indie and Alternative fill the mesmerizing void. The feeling every day being the same can be felt by the audience strongly and even the outbursts of the protagonists who wants to get out of the ferris wheel become part of the routine.
The most oustanding feature is the external voice that speaks to the protagonist and says "Don't get mad, this could be the best you ever had" emphasized by euphoric sounds.
And in the end, can the protagonist break the routine? The interpretation will be up to the audience here since the ending is open. Or will a future release tell us more?
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
