With the two-track EP "Meat Poppet / Sweet Puppet", Milwaukee's Countrycore band Rat Bath is entering the final stage of their upcoming debut album "Rat from Hell", to be released in February 2022. On the metaphoric level, the album is about a protagonist who is possessed by a demon, and in the two tracks 'Meat Poppet' and 'Sweet Puppet', they are emancipating themselves from the demon by confronting them, fighting back, and finally finding a way to get rid of the demon.
The connotated meaning of the upcoming album deals with the topics of sexual assault and trauma. With these last two tracks especially, it shall be an empowering work for survivors of sexual assault to address their traumata. And for everyone else, it can be a reminder to keep their eyes open, and to help fighting sexual abuse and violence.

The A-Side 'Meat Poppet' begins with a very melodic and harmonic Country theme which then immediately slides into some brutally raging Hardcore Punk - this is what Countrycore shall sound like! After a little Rock'n'Roll interlude, 'Meat Poppet' becomes a powerful anthem against all predators: "If you touch me again, I will break your fucking hands", hell yes!
'Sweet Puppet' on the other side is a lot calmer as it defines the protagonist finding out about the way how to get rid of their demon. Country themes with a dark impact raise tension until the song finally climaxes into a powerful Alternative Rock hymn.
