Eighteen months after the release of their debut album "The Consecutives, Vol. 1", the quartet from Brooklyn, New York is back with the successor "The Consecutives, Vol. 2". Ray Cetta has taken the position of the bass player from Dave Hassel while the rest of the line-up has remained the same. That means, Ray has recorded these songs together with guitarist Andy Berman, keyboarder Tom Wilson, and drummer and songwriter Dan Klug. In October 2020, the four artists went to Flux Magnetic Studios in New York for a four-hour session of rehearsals and recording. The result is a half-hour Jazz Funk orgy consisting of four first-take recordings.
What we can hear on "The Consecutives, Vol. 2" is master-class Modern Funk. Drummer Dan Klug shows that he is up to every trick of Jazz rhythmics. Bass player Ray Cetta finds the golden ratio between velocity and groove, and therefore becomes the perfect copula between Klug's jazzy drumming and Andy Berman's funky guitar. The latter provides the audience with timeless licks that take fans of mid-20-century Funk and lovers of Modern Funk by their hands likewise. Tom Wilson on keys dives and flies through the layers of this mesmerizing Jazz Funk feast by creating psychedelic atmosphere, beautiful Rhythm and Blues airs, and massive walls of colourful sound. The Consecutives' second album is a sophisticated Modern Funk masterpiece - psychedelic, groovy, and intelligent music for heart, body, and soul. Put this record on loop together with your preferred Shalosh album, and the night will be yours.
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
