Are you ready to get nasty? Real nasty? You better are because this is 9 o'clock nasty, a trio from Leicester, and their third EP "Growl". One could argue if a three-track release with a playtime of six minutes should rather be considered a single than an EP... but once could also argue that people shall wear pants although there is no comprehensible reason for doing so.
"Growl" is the successor of previous EPs "Dank" and "Dry", and it is an artistic fusion of severity and humour, arts and punk, sanity and insanity. Taking up on the final dichotomy mentioned, 9 o'clock nasty's EP "Growl" is a sonic exploration to the space where sane and insane meet, where they decide to abandon all structures, and dance along into a new sphere.
The nihilist soundscapes go from Art Rock to Garage Rock, from wavy Post Punk to Punk Rock and back. Gloomy atmosphere grinds on snotty riffs, melancholy turns into dadaism, and absurdity supports social critique. One might frown listening to this for the first time, but as soon as you begin to feel it, "Growl" becomes a party banger. This is punk as hell.
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
