A year and a week after the release of Daniel
Bohn’s powerful album “The Black and White Sea”, the remixed version has been
released. The ten tracks have undergone the masterful skills of MetalKrypt
which give the original piece from August 2020 even more power. For over an
hour multi-instrumentalist Daniel Bohn and bass player Travis Tompkin
provide their audience with stunning soundscapes and thrilling sonic
narratives.
The atmospheric introduction ‘Intrusive
Thoughts’ is followed by nine dark and heavy tracks that last between three and
thirteen minutes each. The songs are defined by impressive songwriting
structures and powerful arcs of suspense. Take ‘The Vision’ for example that
starts as an acoustic Americana-like ballad, soaked by gorgeous harmonies and
soulful vocals, until its fading last notes lead into the dark and massive
opening of ‘Progressional Feelings’. Daniel Bohn artistically combines
the sophisticated buoyance of Progressive Metal with the harsh and atmospheric
broadside of Post Rock, and the gloomy mood of Alternative Rock. Thus, the
remixed version of “The Black and White Sea” is an impressive album, soulful
and brutal likewise, and the long tracks especially are coined by thrilling
narratives.
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
