It is the year 2021, the pandemic is all over the planet, and here is no end in sight. But during this winter we have witnessed the power of the internet yet again. The digital army took over Wall Street, making the deteriorating game retailer and movie theater chain stocks skyrocket - in no time and out of pure fun and enthusiasm. Such growth of GameStop and AMC on the market really made the likes of hedge funds angry, making them throw “manipulation”, “fraud” and “unfair” all around. Long story short - it turned out that the Redditors are really a power to reckon with, and the stockbrokers are indeed cunts.
Heavy metal has always been in touch with the current political agenda, and it is no surprise that the AMC/Gamestop controversy was reflected in a metal song. Please welcome Andrew Soto - he just “Can’t stop, won’t stop”.
It’s a clever piece of financially aware metal, and i just can't help myself but totally thinking about Metalocalypse. The animated music video is reminiscent of the iconic cartoon, both musically and visually - which is a good thing, we need more stuff like that! The good old animated violence is accompanied by straightforward, mastodonish metal (think “Cut You Up With a Linoleum knife) and witty lyrics. Andrew notes that he is on his way to battle the evil hedge fund manager, so the heavy metal riot is present too.
The music video was released on Andrews YouTube channel, where he mostly posts
metal covers. “Can’t stop, won’t stop” hints Andews star quality and the
potential to become both a really big rock n roll star or financial advisor.
