The album on hand is the debut release by North Brazil's trio Pentral. But honestly, it is way more than just that. First of all, band members Joe Ferry (bass), and brother Vagner (drums) and Victor Lima (guitars and vocals) were supported by several guest musicians: Ivan Teixeira (backing voices and keyboards), Isabelle Trindade (backing voices), Yaniel Matos (cello), and Tim Palmer (guitars, tambourine, and keyboards).
And yes, "What Lies Ahead Of Us" is not just a regular album. Pentral's debut is a concept album creating a narrative that is as thrilling and as realistic as life in the 21st century itself. The great cover artwork by Heidi Taillefer already gives us the first ideas what this might be about.

"What Lies Ahead Of Us" tells the story of a couple living in a forest where they become parents to a new-born child. What could be the beginning of a paradisic narrative, is a story about distortion, terror and threats instead. The young family's luck is being disrupted and disillusioned by the presence of a merciless predator - a beast that egoistically takes everything that it needs without taking care of any other living being. You might have already guessed whom the protagonists are facing here - humankind.
"What Lies Ahead Of Us" is a fictional story. And yet, it is a story that is stands for numerous fates - in Pentral's homeland Brazil, and at many other places on our planet.

Pentral have created a monumental concept album that deals with the horrible consequences of egoism, racism, capitalism, megalomania, ignorance, indifference, prejudice, and further chasm of human behaviour. The band presents the bitter truth of our society in which the weak, the poor, the helpless are always the first victims of the others's selfishness.

The album's content is so heavy and important that one could almost forget talking about the music this narrative is powered by. Pentral play massive and artistic Prog Rock and Metal. Combined with elements of Brazilian music on the one hand, and symphonic elements on the other, "What Lies Ahead Of Us" has become an impressing of timeless Prog. It contains 12 stunning tracks of which the last two are radio edits of the album tracks 'Silent Trees' and 'Aiming for the Sun'. Pentral's debut is a hot tip not only for people who are interested in a better future, not only for people who love thrilling narratives, and not only for lovers of artistic Prog.
